As an Adventure Learning School, with a passion for the outdoors, the younger children of Windermere school have been really excited about getting involved in such a worthwhile cause. After so much wet weather, the children’s inspiration has come from the colourful world of the Rainforest and the fantastic creatures that live there.

Fine Art Graduate, Mother, Farmer’s Wife, Author’s PA. I am interested in how Art can be part of working people’s lives and vice-versa. I have previously exhibited story telling embroideries, of the everyday mundane hiding undercurrents of violence and heartbreak.
I decorated the Ewe at a unique stock-judging event on the 12th December with dozens of shepherds’ hand-prints. The piece is titled ‘In Safe Hands’ and hopefully demonstrates the inextricable links between the Sheep, Landscape and Shepherds.
As a mother of three caring for my ‘flock’ I am interested in displaying to the public how sheep are cared for by Shepherds. We live on a traditional Lake District hill farm. I wanted to illuminate how the landscape is shaped by the hands of these shepherds. By placing their hands on the sheep and writing the names of the shepherds on the legs (and possibly the head) of the ewe it symbolises their role as guardians of the Lake District fells. The colours I have used are bright; primary red, blue and yellow, strong orange, green, purple and pink, all often used to as ‘smit’ to mark our sheep.
