The Heaton Cooper Studio, Grasmere, is the home of mountaineering art in the heart of the Lakes. They are delighted to sponsor a fantasy sheep for the Go Herdwick project, one of which will be decorated by children at Grasmere School. It’s a great charity initiative which will bring Herdwicks into Lakeland towns and villages and support all that the Calvert Trust do in the Lakes for people with disabilities.

Based in Skipton, Rowan is a self taught artist who has spent most of his working life doing something creative!
I’m attaching a rough for my design. There is a sample of the brush work/colour, and I envisage much detail in the design. It is just an idea at this stage, but will give some indication of the approach. My work is never planned to the finest detail as I’m sure once I meet the sheep, I will be inspired and it will ‘speak to me!!’
The feel will be one of ‘changing seasons, cycles, peace, calm and tranquility set within a roaming landscape. Very colourful with each section of the lamb celebrating the changing light/nature.’ There will be figures in the landscape too.
