Cumbrian businesses will be sponsoring blank Herdwick ewe sculptures made of glass-reinforced plastic and want to have them decorated/illustrated/transformed by a local artist to reflect their activities and values – or just to have a piece of eye catching art! The artist will transform the blank ‘3D canvas’ of a Herdwick ewe sculpture into a work of art.

At least 50 Herdwick ewes will be located outside sponsor’s premises or in accessible public spaces and a Herdwick trail created on the route linking Keswick and Windermere. An art trail map naming all the sponsors and artists will be sold throughout the life of the project. Herdwick spotting will attract visitors and residents alike.

In late September/early October 2016 the herd will be sold at a Grand Gala Auction and online to take up their retirement as fun pieces of artwork in offices, homes, shops and gardens. Artists will receive a commission on the sale of their decorated Herdwick. Net profits d to the Calvert Trust will be used to help fund a fabulous new facility at their Old Windebrowe site in Keswick.

We will introduce sponsors to artists who have come forward to support the project. The company name and artists name will appear on a plaque on the sculptures base. Your details will also be on the trail maps and on our website www.goherdwick.co.uk.

Please call Annie or email us at [email protected] if you have any questions.
